Throughout our time in the label management space, we’ve had the honor and privilege of helping brands cut review effort and amplify their impact with every project.
One of the biggest challenges we’ve seen users (and the industry at large) face is the bouquet of complex regulatory requirements that follow every label design.
“We miss one allergen declaration and the whole batch needs to be recalled immediately.”
“I lose a huge chunk of time just checking font sizes every week.”
“Label reviews get repetitive and it’s easy for the team to miss errors during a review”
These are just some of the conversations we’ve had in the past with folks working on product development and label management.
Today, after months of research, brainstorming, and tinkering around our code base, we’re thrilled to announce our latest feature and your new compliance assistant, ComplyAI.
“ComplyAI is the next big milestone in our AI-led roadmap to address the complexities faced by label management teams globally. We're excited by the possibilities it offers brands across industries and look forward to building on this with the Artwork Flow community.”

Compliance automation that shines on your bottom line
With ComplyAI, you can save precious staff hours every week that would otherwise be spent by reviewers on manually scanning your creatives for factual and design accuracy, the presence of essential disclaimers, warnings, and allergen information, brand alignment, and other mandatory information you can’t miss in your pre-print files.
- Set preferred and restricted terms based on your requirements.
- Include images and logos you’d like to include in your designs.
- Set font type and size requirements for your designs.
- Highlight spelling and grammar errors with ease.
What’s more, you can run multiple checks over specific sections of your design with unique rules for each section based on your requirements. This means that if you want to check some lines of text just for grammar and check your ingredients section to see if you’ve declared potential allergens, you can simply drag and select both areas and run specific rules created for each of these sections.

For example, one of the top reasons for FDA food recalls in 2023 was undeclared allergens, which is a mandatory requirement as per the organization's guidelines. Let’s say you sell a snack with peanuts (a potential allergen) as one of the ingredients. With ComplyAI, you can create a rule for positive keywords with the terms ‘Peanuts’ and ‘Allergen’. When a reviewer opens the file to review, they can simply run the rule over the creative and if the terms are missing in the label, ComplyAI will highlight this in the report within seconds.
Dive deeper with conditional rules
You can also set up rules that run only if certain conditions are met, which means less work for you and more accuracy in your results!
So, how does this work? Let’s take a look!
Let’s say a heading like ‘Nutrition facts’ in your copy needs to have a font size of 14 px in Helvetic bold italic. Your first rule can be a ‘Words or phrases’ rule to find the text ‘Nutrition facts’, while your second rule can look for Helvetica bold italic in the size 14 px.
Your second rule will run only if ‘Nutrition facts’ is found on the artwork and only that text will need to be in the required font style for the rule to pass.
If conditional rules would be particularly handy when you need to:
- Check any regulated copy, like a nutritional facts table for specific font sizes.
- Verify any supporting text that comes with icons, logos, or images, like recycling information when a related icon is on the artwork.
- Ensure the presence of mandatory disclaimers associated with specific drugs, alcoholic beverages, and food items.
- Confirm that your alcoholic beverage is labeled correctly based on the percentage of alcohol by volume.
- Make sure that the right trade names and descriptions are used for specific products in your product line.
Here’s a quick look at how ComplyAI works on Artwork Flow.
AI-led compliance for every industry
When we set out to address the challenge of automating label compliance, we recognized the complexity facing us. No two brands — let alone two different industry verticals — would have the same rules to regulate their creatives. This meant delivering a solution that assured complete flexibility without compromising on the impact.
The result: ComplyAI is fully capable of addressing complex requirements across every industry — be it FMCG or pharmaceutical.
- Food & beverage brands can stay compliant with regulatory bodies such as the FDA, the FSSAI, and the European Commission and ensure key ingredients and allergens are displayed per guidelines.
- Nutraceutical brands can verify key information including potential allergens, usage directions, and other mandated information to comply with regulatory requirements.
- Pharmaceutical brands can keep their disclaimers, warnings, and directions for use accurate and in line with the FDA’s recommendations.
- Cosmetic brands can keep labels on-brand and make sure key allergens and usage information are clearly mentioned.
- Chemical brands can comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and ensure key safety and recycling information is properly displayed on the labels.
