Highlights

Imagine designing a social media post in a blink of an eye.

With the usage of AI in many industries, even Microsoft didn’t hesitate to generate its own AI design tool — Microsoft Designer. Just like how MS Word or Excel help us with our projects or tasks, MS Designer can also help in providing better visuals for your project.

Curious much?

Let’s dive deep into what MS Designer can offer us.

What is Microsoft Designer?

Microsoft Designer or MS Designer is a fresh addition to the Microsoft toolkit that helps generate images or templates for social media posts, flyers, invitations, and more using powerful AI technology.

From the ideation to the creation stage, the invitation maker AI design tool helps you at each stage of the creative process for better results.

Features of MS Designer

In the realm of graphic design, having access to a reliable and feature-rich design tool is essential. Microsoft Designer aims to provide a versatile platform for unleashing creativity. Here are the features of MS Designer Software that highlight its potential as a powerful AI design tool.

1. User-friendly interface

One of the standout features of MS Designer is its user-friendly interface. The software offers a clean and intuitive layout, making it easy for both beginners and experienced designers to navigate. The toolbar provides quick access to various design elements, tools, and customization options, allowing users to work seamlessly.

2. Customizing design

MS Designer offers a wide range of design capabilities, catering to various design needs. Users can create stunning graphics, brochures, flyers, and more. The software includes an extensive library of pre-designed templates and elements, which helps users kickstart their designs or use them as inspiration.

  • Pre-defined templates

The software has various pre-designed templates that you can choose from. You can customize these templates to suit your specific requirements and save time in the design process.

  • Add your media or recommended visuals

Directly upload the media from your phone or Google Drive or Dropbox that you would like to include in your design. There is also a drag-and-drop option which makes assembling elements easier.

The visuals option on MS Designer suggests images or visuals that are related to your design. You can either use them or be inspired. For example, if your social media post is regarding the launch of a new cosmetic product, you can look for inspiration under the ‘visuals’ tab using the keyword ‘cosmetics’ and get visuals related to it. Not just images but you can also obtain video animations.

  • Generate captions

What makes MS Designer stand out from competitors like Canva or DALL-E 2 is that it also supports text generation. Isn’t that amazing?

All you have to do is add a description of the caption you’re looking to add along with your design and the tool auto-generates ideas for headings, subheadings, and the body. You can use the same or tweak it to match your brand voice.

  • Typography

Now that we have mentioned generating captions, it doesn’t go without a font. There are plenty of font styles and colors you can choose from.

  • Brand kit

You can create your own brand kit with fonts and colors and never have to worry about brand consistency. You can also find plenty of pre-defined styles to choose from.

3. Design navigation

Here are a few useful tools that you would find on the navigation bar of MS Designer software.

  • Crop and resize images

Like most design tools, you can crop and adjust your design. But here the highlight is you can also resize your images depending on which platform you’re sharing the design. It could be dimensioned for an Instagram reel or Facebook ad or Twitter post.

  • Effects

With this option, you can:

  1. Add blur to your background and remove the background as well.
  2. Adjust the brightness and contrast of the image.
  3. Play with different filters.

Looking at other competitors, it is hard to find a tool that has all the options like MS Designer in a single platform.

4. Manage and download files

You can manage and save designs under ‘my files’. Unlike other design tools, you can select up to 30 images and delete them.

Once your design is ready, you can instantly either save or download it in png, jpeg, and pdf format without sweat and move on to a new design. There is an option to remove the watermark (without paying money, of course) and the background before downloading.

Another brownie point here is that you can switch between designs by saving the current one to ‘my files’.

5. Add videos

With this software, you can not only add images, but you can also add video animations. With video automation coming into the market, the demand for video content has gone up. Adding videos could grab the attention of your audience and enhance their overall engagement with your content.

6. Share content and generate social media hashtags

Once your design is ready, you can directly share it on your Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn business page. After you choose the platform where you want to share your content, you can also get the help of AI to generate relevant captions or hashtags for you.

For example, describe what you need to include in your text under the description box and choose the most suited caption and hashtags you want. You can tweak them as well to fit the brand voice.

7. Integration

Apart from its stunning features, Microsoft Designer integrates with tools like Microsoft Edge and Bing, and DALL-E 2 to create more images and bring them to vision.

Tying up with DALL-E 2 can create a massive effect on your content and fetch more ideas for the designers.

Drawbacks

1. Limited features

Although MS Designer offers a wide range of design capabilities, it may fall short in terms of advanced features compared to industry-standard design software like Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW. It also has limited typography assets, tools, and effects.

2. No collaboration

It is difficult to collaborate creatively on a powerful design platform like MS Designer because there is no such feature yet.

3. Ad copy are not generated

Even though it provides captions and hashtags that are relevant to your content, the AI software cannot generate the exact ad copy that sells.

Our take on MS Designer

With no doubt, it is one of the best AI design software that we have seen recently among its strong contenders. Given the array of features that MS Designer offers, even an entry-level content creator can figure out their way around the tool. From attractive templates to various visual ideas to be inspired from, working on MS Design is fun and easy.

One of its notable features is its integration with DALL-E 2 which can generate images for marketing materials. The other two top features are the ability to add videos and generate captions and hashtags for your social media content through Artificial Intelligence.

With an amazing tool kit like this, MS Designer could have developed a collaboration feature that would have made the life of designers easy. But experienced designers might find the platform to be lacking a couple of features and advanced tools compared to other design software.

But overall, we can say that it is an incredible tool to begin with if you want to make the design process easier as a creator or a marketing manager.
